About Nick "Sloppy" Losapio

A Letter From His Fiancé-Capt Kelsie Hancock

You will always hear people saying that Nick was larger than life. He always had a smile on his face until it was time to get serious. He was great at flipping the switch. Having been an added value to VMM-364 for the better part of 6 years, Nick started his tenure as a Purple Fox by working through his aircraft commander syllabus until he earned his Weapons and Tactics Instructor (WTI) patch at MAWTS-1 in 2021. Nick was "the guy" to fly with. He exuded confidence and proficiency in the aircraft and was trusted to lead robust combat missions in hostile environments. With over 1300 flight hours (over 100 hours flying in combat) Nick easily became a well-respected and well-known Osprey pilot across Marine Air Group (MAG) 39.

His personality and laugh was contagious. He loved his parents and sister, his dearest friends, and was excited about the life we were building together. He had long-term goals of flying, starting a family, and retiring early in order to travel the world. He prioritized people more than anyone I have ever met. Most nights he would come home late because he was helping other pilots at work with their flight planning. Nick enjoyed the little things in life and valued  quality time with the people he loved the most. He left people better than he found them. I'd like to think he inspired quite a few. When Nick wasn't flying, he loved brunch with friends, going on adventures, and doing what we liked to call "Sunday things." He played pickup hockey on the weekends and always went out of his way to come up with a new nickname for me on the daily.

My goal with this foundation is to honor his legacy and continue giving back to others in a way I truly believe he would want. Nick and I often talked about being a solution to the problems we saw in this world. I hope this foundation meets a need and honors the beautiful person he was.

Thanks for being here and supporting!

With Love,

Kelsie "Kale" Hancock
